Event Objectives: The essence of this course is navigation through the 8 streams of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) and guidance on how to help client to choose the right stream as a pathway to permanent residence. Administrated under the 2015 Ontario Immigration Act and its Regulations, the OINP operates in partnership with the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) because the provincial nominees have to apply for permanent residence to the RCIC. So, the aim of this course is to better understand the challenges of the OINP and the requirements for its 8 streams, which are divided in 2 categories: 1. Employer Job Offer Category (comprised of Foreign Worker; International Student; and Indemand Skills streams), and 2. Human Capital Category (for international students with a masters or PhD degree from an Ontario university: Masters Graduate and PhD Graduate streams). Since the OINP uses Expression of Interest System to manage application for these 5 streams, they are also known as Expression of Interest Streams, and it is requireed that the applicants must register an expression of interest with the OINP to get the nomination for permanent residence. Conversely, the OINP uses the federal government’s Express Entry System for another subcategory of Human Capital Category, which is comprised of 3 streams that are also known as Express Entry Streams: French-Speaking Skill Worker, Human Capital Priorities, and Skilled Trades streams. The applicants must create a profile on the Express Entry System in order to receive a notification of interest from the OINP to apply for these streams. The only stream under Business Category of the OINP, Entrepreneur stream, was abruptly suspended (most likely terminated) effective December 4, 2023 and Entrepreneur Success Initiative was ended; due to that fact, the Entrepreneur stream won’t be discussed. All in all, the ultimate goal of this course is to help representatives to comprehensively guide and counsel their clients to better understand these complicated immigration pathways to permanent residence in order to be able to choose the right stream of the OINP.
