LSO Compliance (Ontario) To remain in good standing, Ontario lawyers and paralegals must fulfill a 12-hour annual CPD requirement:
Professionalism (3 Hours): Must be LSO-accredited content (Ethics, Professionalism, and Practice Management).
Substantive (9 Hours): Flexible hours that can be earned through educational seminars, mentoring students/lawyers, teaching, or writing/editing legal texts.
Verify your hours: Visit the Law Society of Ontario for the most current guidelines and reporting portal.
Law Society of British Columbia (LSBC) Requirements
Practising BC lawyers must complete 12 hours of accredited CPD annually by December 31. This must include a minimum of two (2) hours dedicated to professional responsibility, ethics, or practice management.
Access & Reporting:
All CDES programs for BC are designed to meet LSBC accreditation standards. Please ensure you report your hours through the LSBC Member Portal before the year-end deadline to avoid late fees or administrative suspension. For recorded sessions, credit is available for independent online study provided the program includes the required interactive components
CICC Compliance Notice
All Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs) are required to complete 16 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) annually. These hours must be earned through CICC-approved activities focused on substantive Canadian immigration and citizenship content.
Please note: Mandatory Practice Management Education (PME) courses provided by the College do not count toward your annual 16-hour CPD requirement.
