Event Objectives:

This session provides RCICs in post-secondary settings with an in-depth look at advising international students on bringing spouses, common-law partners, and dependent children to Canada. The session will review relevant IRPA and IRPR sections, the January 2024 policy change restricting spousal open work permits to spouses of students in specific programs, and the strategic timing of applications to minimize refusals. We will also examine proof of funds, documentation requirements, minor child study permit rules, and troubleshooting common refusal and compliance issues.
