Reporting your hours
Claim your CPD credits with CICC
Reporting your Continuing Professional Development hours is part of your Annual Renewal as an RCIC or RISIA. You must complete and claim your hours before the 30 June deadline at the end of the CPD Term. This page walks through the College Portal, step by step.
Figures are the College's, summarised. Full detail with section numbers is on our CPD requirements reference page.
Step by step
Logging your credits in the College Portal
Before you submit
Three things the College expects
Evidence stays with you
You do not upload certificates or invoices with a standard renewal. You are required to keep proof of completion for at least five years in case you are selected for a random CPD audit.
Individual activities need approval first
An activity that did not come from a pre-approved provider must be approved by the College before you can select it in your Learning Log.
Submitting is what counts
Completing the hours is not enough on its own. Your status is not in good standing for the next year until the Learning Log is submitted and the rest of your Annual Renewal Form is complete.
If you are audited
What to keep on file
The College conducts random audits through the year. If you are selected you will typically have a short window, often 15 to 30 days, to produce your evidence. If you cannot provide it, your credits may be revoked, which could put your licence at risk. Keep these six items for every course you claim.
If you hold a C.D.E.S. bundle
Our system is reset each year to prepare for the next licensing cycle. Download your certificates as soon as you finish your bundle. Do not wait until the following year to retrieve them.
If the College selects you for a random CPD audit it will normally email you asking for proof of the hours in your Learning Log. A prepared, professional reply makes the process go faster. We keep a template you can fill in and attach your records to: CICC CPD audit response templates.
Rules and reference
Where the requirements come from

CICC Continuing Professional Development, the College's own page.
Law Society of Ontario CPD requirement, and Law Society of British Columbia CPD, for lawyers and paralegals. Each law society sets its own requirement and changes it from time to time. Confirm eligibility with your own regulator before you rely on a course.
